Business meetings in Venice. Well, where better to have a business meeting? However, who would consider a meeting in a crowded, noisey cafe at 6.30pm on the island of La Giudecca? It all seemed so natural, so Italian and so thoroughly agreeable.

Sitting in my local Venice cafe after my early morning yomp, I listened transifixed to a woman telling me about how the famous Russian poet, Anna Akhmatova was the primary influence in Modigliani adopting his very distinctive painting style.

Dinner at Osteria Alle Testiere in Venice
Alle Testiere is always a treat and never fails to disappoint. On this occasion it was a loud-mouthed English chef who tarnished the evening but we enjoyed ourselves, nevertheless.
Quatro Feri, Venice
Quatro Feri is an an old-style Venetian osteria close to San Barnaba, apparently noted for traditional specialities. However, given the wonderful choice of osterie and trattorie in Venice, we shall not be coming back here.
